301 URL Redirect - The SEO Redirect Type On Blogspot

SEO has two types of redirects, the first is 301 permanent and the second is 302 temporary. In this post, I shall talk about permanent 301 URL redirects. moving your URL from one location to another comes under the redirect section but it is your choice which redirect you want.

What is 301 permanent redirect?

301 redirect meaning is to get your web page on another address that is now permanent for the post. There is a need for 301 redirect SEO. After this, your blog post will work fine on the new address then there is no issue with that.

Redirect and SEO

Redirect is a rule not SEO but comes under SEO rule. 301 redirect SEO impact on a blog, first you think about why you need them and how many and why because multiple redirects are hard to make. Redirect is not based on a 404 page to apply. They occur when any page URL is Changed.

301 redirect condition to make

  1. If you create a new page and after that thinking about moving to a new address because you do not have documentation of your planning and your created URL is not descriptive and now you are thinking new one. This way 404 made.
  2. Never link to outdated URLs that do not have further new and relevant information.
Note: 302 redirect has the same functionality but the page is moved to the temporary address.

Why 404 redirect SEO is wrong with 301 redirect?

Making 404 web pages when you are developing the blog and using 301 permanent redirects is wrong, so do proper planning before starting the article writing.

Talking about another scenario, If you move to a new address then you need to apply changes for a new address and have to make a 301 redirect. This is the redirect from the old page to the new page.

But 404 is not good for SEO as said above how they made 404 while developing a blog with poor knowledge. It is also difficult if you have tons of 404 pages and then how you will redirect them to a new address.

Also, as you know URL should be keyword-optimized. So you will not face the issue of changing your URLs.

The solution is to make proper planning and documentation so that later you will not face any problem of 404 pages.

Sometimes articles become duplicates. So write one URL once, one title once, and the same rule for description. Don't merge articles. Do planning before.

Google SEO redirect

I have some suggestions while doing redirects for Google SEO.

Google search console page with redirect

GSC shows the soft 404 error and you can see changes happening on your blog. If a mistake is made by you while developing, and therefore the Google search console is noticed, then GSC takes time to clear. So first develop your blog then submit. Otherwise, your crawl budget can be lost, with wrong practices.

Hreflang redirect does not come with 301 redirect

Showing results country-wise is good sometimes if you have a separate page for each country,  use the hreflang code to show results specific to the language of that country. You can also select a location in the URL and title of your web page to solve this issue.

Hreflang redirects are permanent redirects. So there is no need for a 301 redirect.

301 redirect in Blogger

  1. Go to the settings of Blogger
  2. Find errors and redirect
  3. Click on the custom redirect
  4. Add details about redirect URLs
  5. Enable permanent redirect and save
redirect in Blogger

An image is helpful for how you have to make a redirect in Blogger. Add the old URL in the From option and the final and new URL in the To option. Enable permanent option. This way redirect is done
